“2025 Taiwan Lantern Festival” Main Lantern Infinite Paradise Successfully Installed

The 2025 Taiwan Lantern Festival will feature two main areas: the Main Lantern Exhibition Area (A18) and the Lights Playground (A19). The main lantern, "Infinite Paradise," was officially installed at 2:00 PM on December 21, 2024. The ceremony was hosted by Director General Chou Yung-hui of the Tourism Administration, MOTC, and Taoyuan Mayor Simon Chang. Distinguished guests included Po-ta Tseng, General Manager of Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. Taoyuan Operations, along with legislators Ming-che Lu, Yu-ling Lu, and Jo-hua Chiu, as well as their teams. Together, they kicked off the preparations for the 2025 Taiwan Lantern Festival, offering prayers for the smooth progress of the event.

The 2025 Taiwan Lantern Festival will return to Taoyuan after its last appearance in 2016. This year, two major exhibition areas will feature one main lantern, two large secondary lanterns, and 11 themed lantern zones, showcasing over 300 works. The festival blends a variety of techniques, including crafts, bamboo art, interactive technology, and traditional lantern artistry, offering an exciting and immersive lantern experience. Additionally, the strategic location of Taoyuan International Airport and the local Rakuten Monkeys baseball team from the Chinese Professional Baseball League have been cleverly woven into the curatorial concept, incorporating aviation and baseball elements. This collaboration seeks to present Taiwan to the world, attract more international visitors, and jointly promote the island's beauty.

Director General Chou Yung-hui of the Tourism Administration highlighted that, after a nine-year absence, the Taiwan Lantern Festival is returning to Taoyuan, coinciding with Team Taiwan’s victory in the Premier12 Baseball Tournament. To celebrate this achievement, the festival’s lantern areas will feature a baseball field design, reflecting the joy and pride of the championship while emphasizing baseball as Taiwan's national sport. The main lantern this year has been designed by renowned artist Akibo Lee, who blends cutting-edge technology and his expertise in visual arts to incorporate elements of baseball culture, airport imagery, local heritage, and international participation. The result is a visually stunning display that symbolizes brightness, prosperity, sustainable development, and intergenerational connections, while representing infinite creativity, continuous energy, vitality, hope for the future, harmony, and beauty.

The Tourism Administration will host a press conference for the main lantern design on January 3, 2025, at The Grand Hotel in Taipei, where the main lantern will be officially unveiled. Stay tuned!

The 2025 Taiwan Lantern Festival will officially light up on the evening of February 12, 2025(Wednesday), at 7:00 PM, during the Lantern Festival. The main lantern will feature a light show every half hour, and the event will continue dazzling visitors until 10:00 PM on February 23, 2025(Sunday). Director General Chou Yung-hui and Taoyuan Mayor Simon Chang cordially invite people from across the nation to join the celebration and enjoy a vibrant and joyous Lantern Festival in Taoyuan!
